If we could, would we…
Tell a star,
Not to shoot across the sky?
Not invite all their friends,
To come out after dark?
Prevent a rainbow from stretching,
Arm long,
Through firmament…
Instead, stealing pot of gold?
Unfair as,
Clipping child’s angel wings,
Curbing sweet dreams…
Only biting words,
And unbroken silence,
Swallowing their mirth…
JUST BECAUSE CAN.
Thankfully God fortifies children,
Rainbows and shooting stars,
With splendid and resilient spirits;
Colorful and glorious,
When unmuted.
We can’t stop rain clouds from crying…
But if rainbows and shooting stars,
Have full license to shine,
Would not God’s children,
Most adored and protected,
Also get their time?
Rainbows of joy, love and freedom,
For all God’s children,
To come…
After the rain.
