Ponder This…?

If roses were thornless,

Would love also be pain-free?

Would cows without udders,

Have low self-esteem?

A ship without a rudder,

Be a lost soul at sea?

What of a butterfly,

With Teflon wings?

I ponder…

Without fragility,

It’s beauty could we see?

If cotton candy,

Were not so sticky,

Would that really,

Be much fun?

…As much fun as,

Spare ribs that,

Aren’t messy!

Here’s some more,

Un-fun to conjure,

Try a sandless beach,

No graininess to rub,

Between the toes,

On your feet!

And what of a human,

Ego-less?

… Perhaps free?

    1. Awww thanks Rosema! Remember muni muni, from your “Word High July”challenge? This was a second poem I wrote but never posted. Thank you for the inspiration! Smiling ear to ear πŸ˜ƒπŸ’πŸ˜ƒπŸ’πŸ˜ƒπŸ’πŸ˜ƒπŸ’πŸ˜ƒπŸ’πŸ˜ƒπŸ’!!

  1. This was wonderful! I love the places your imagination took you! A wonderfully, imaginative, piece. 😊

Your piece really made me think about whether “removing the thorns” robs of the richness of life.

Example, when you were talking about the sand? Sand in itself is course and rough. However, burying your toes in the sand is one of the highlights of the beach. Perhaps, the course-ness of life is necessary to produce joy or to add to or enhance it? Just my take. Again, great piece.

    1. Marie, glad you found so much insight in my poem! As much as I complain, I’ve actually grown the most dealing with life’s struggles. Going through them is not fun, but in hindsight, can often find positive benefit for pain. The key to gratitude, for me, has always been to stop and look (for the gift).πŸ’πŸ’πŸ’. Have a beautiful day!

    1. Thanks Davy! Don’t ask, when this line came to me, almost didn’t keep in poem because it seemed ridiculous! But it worked & laughter is always good for the soul! I love experimenting and playing on my blog. Your appreciation is the added bonus.
