“Faith or Fear”

      (A Short Story)

Recently on a family vacation, I noticed the peaceful, relaxing

Polynesian style wallpaper in our hotel bathroom.  It looked like turtles

which always remind me that it’s safe to be myself, relax and take things

slow, knowing my true Home is with me wherever I go.

It turns out, my young son didn’t have quite the same reaction.

He jumped and yelled saying, “Mommy, that wallpaper is scary!”

For my life I couldn’t understand why?  I asked, “Son, are you afraid of turtles?”

He said, “No, it’s a Tiki man!”  When he pointed out the scary faces he saw to

me, I finally noticed them on the backs of the turtle’s shells.

“Oh, now I see it!”  I said in surprise and amazement.

Right away I got the impromptu lesson…Whether choosing to live in faith or

fear…life is really how we look at it.

  1. True words Gilda and a great story to illustrate your point. We always need to consider that someone will see something in a different way. I was taught an old Native American saying, ” you can never understand someone until you have walked a mile in their moccasins.” It sticks with me to this day.

Also like your take on turtles–a reminder that we can relax because our true Home is always with us. P.S. Thank you for becoming a follower of my blog, From the Inside Out.
