Rest Easy and Long

I can’t save my family,

I can’t save the world.

In God’s love rest easy, rest long…

Try as I may,

I can’t hold back the breaking dawn.

Rest easy my child, rest long…

All my fruitless pushing and pleading,

Won’t cause a tidal wave’s receding.

Pointless worry, wasted effort and time,

On unknown reason and rhyme?

In God’s love come rest your head,

Rest easy, rest long…

Knowing you are blessed!

Take away my security, my home,

My strength and my song,

Leave me on the street for dead,

Disregard all I’ve ever done or said,

For I know God’s love carries on.

And only in God’s love,

Do I rest easy and long…
