Oh baby, baby, like a “thief in the night,”
You came to me,
And took away all my neat and pretty,
Spiritual practices.
And yet,
I’ve learned the most about love and forgiveness,
From you.
Turns out, before, I was only practising.
Oh baby, baby, like a “thief in the night,”
You came to me,
And took away all my neat and pretty,
Spiritual practices.
And yet,
I’ve learned the most about love and forgiveness,
From you.
Turns out, before, I was only practising.
Quit wanting to be someone other than who you are.
You, yes you, be you!
Full of emotion,
Filled with light that must shine,
But maybe won’t come through,
In the usual way.
For many, if not most,
Our biology keeps us firmly planted on the ground,
As our dreams soar a little too high and far.
But this is not sad!
The tug of desire,
Coupled with the pain of frustration,
Makes us pioneers of the soul,
Forcing us to pave a new way.
To look inside is to find a back door,
Which swings easily open for the emergence of our soul.
There is nothing and no one to chase after,
It’s all just smoke and mirrors.
If someone or something seems better than you,
or what you have,
You are just fooling yourself,
And not looking past the smoke and mirrors.
Stop running for a moment,
And peacefully take a look,
Within yourself.
You are completely ordinary,
And One with everyone else,
That’s what makes you wonderfully extraordinary.
Everything else is smoke and mirrors.
I write because my soul has to.
I write to connect with God.
I write to make sense,
of the jumbled mess floating around in my head.
Thank You Lord,
You are a beautiful
Oasis in my life,
Vast and endless.
More substantial and more real,
Than the depth and the breath,
Of the stretch of the sea.
I am a being of love and light,
Nothing more, nothing less.
There is only One light and One love,
Streaming through us all.
I have the capacity to do,
Everything I need to do,
And the potential to be,
Everything I need to be.
In God’s time lies the promise,
Of so much more.
Children are born,
With what lessons to learn,
We may never know?
These are their lessons to learn from and grow.
These are their struggles,
This is their pain,
Their triumphs,
Their victories and gains.
This is their path they must walk,
Often alone,
From their fresh clean start,
Till their old, worn out soles.
From innocent beginnings,
With knowledge may they grow,
In compassion, wisdom and faith,
The whole world to show.
So don’t be afraid you can’t love them enough,
To take away their every pain.
Remember, most loving Ma and Pa,
In pain there is gain.
With confidence and compassion,
May they grow up strong yet soft of heart,
For one without the other,
Is a miserable lot.
Fighting past their demons,
And mastering their shadow,
With brave steps, false steps, back steps,
And small steps.
At the end of the day,
Life will not leave them high and dry,
God’s love is right there,
However far off, wide or high, deep or steep,
Or solid the brick wall,
Placed firmly at their feet…
Their success in assured.
God’s love, direction and protection,
Is for your precious child,
Forever theirs to keep.
