Thank God for Hell?

We need the rain to appreciate

A sunny day,

As we need struggle and pain,

To recognize beauty and ease.

We must have darkness,

To see a candle’s light,

As to witness the stars,

Of course we need night.

It’s strange to have gratitude,

To stop and thank God,

For life’s hardships and heartaches…

But in rising like a phoenix,

From the depths of hell,

The taste of heaven,

Is always so much sweeter.

Some people bring us sunshine,

And pure delight!

But for those who offer,

Nothing but rain…

Strut across their dreary terrain,

Wrapped in your own,

Bright and beautiful rainbow.

This Space and Time

There is space and time…

For a blessed and peaceful reunion,

Of hearts and minds.

There is space and time…

For my heart to beat within my chest,

In love, in joy, in grief, in pride.

There is space and time…

For air to fill my lungs and leave my nostrils,

Tasting life’s breath.

There is space and time…

To accept the flavors of life,

Savoring their richness, beauty and wonders.

There is space and time…

To anticipate sharing love,

Accepting a lover to have and to hold.

There is still space and time…

To live…until I die,

Releasing space/time dust,

And merging back into the re-creation of God’s infinite design.

Good things come in small doses.

                The world’s inherent make-up seeks,

                                            BALANCE

Our lives too must be in balance,

                  To experience joy and gratitude.

Too much of even a good thing,

                                    Is not good.

                   What makes things precious

                              Is their scarcity,

                     What is most appreciated,

Is that which is rare in occurrence,

Such as youth, beauty, gold, finding your soul-mate,

                            Free time, silence

                          and really good ideas.
