The Effects of Angel Dust

Perhaps treading too lightly

To shake up world history books,

But just a flicker of your glistening light,

And your whisper soft words,

Keep spirits afloat.

Protecting broken hearts from

Crumbling or numbing,

Advocate for the invisible,

Oft’ neglected soul,

You reclaim their royal significance.

This humble witness proclaims,

“You’ve made your mark!”

…For a healing dose of your angel dust,

Remains sprinkled upon,

My ever grateful heart.

(Dedicated to my mom on Mother’s Day, and all the other beautiful soul warriors out there…You know who you are!!!)

Your Beautiful Presence

Content to stretch out my weary soul,

In the delightful windowsill of your presence.

Your accepting gaze,

Like transparent glass,

Reveals my unstained Being-ness.

Opening and pushing back,

Pane after pane,

Circulating fresh air,

Reviving and awakening my spirit,

Transporting once dormant dreams,

Beyond virgin territory…

Leading me into this creative and new,

Self-expressive-dance-space.

Me and my “labor of love,” thanks you,

For your beautiful Presence.

May is my 1 yr. Anniversary on WordPress!  So I dedicate this poem to you,

all the soul-enriching readers and writers in this wonderful WordPress family,

always looking forward to meeting and reading more!

This Blessed Time and Space

This space we are given,

Is a gift from God…

A place to learn and grow,

Over time.

For if we knew it all,

And had it all,

If there were no time or space,

To separate…

How would we develop,

True humility or genuine pride?

How could we be grateful,

For things not once denied?

Or appreciate a love which is,

Always by our side?

How would we learn of,

Our stamina, our will to survive,

Or be uplifted by,

The powerful, all loving hand of Grace,

If no trouble could befall or

Harm displace?

Oh Beautiful Soul!

My beautiful soul,

You’ve traveled here from

Another time and space…

And you will go back again,

When I’m gone.

You’ve met God…

Oh the things you must know,

And the things you must have seen!

Yet still you made the trek

Back down to earth,

To be with me…

You are me,

And I am you…

For this, I am grateful,

Eternally,

Love, me.

Good things come in small doses.

                The world’s inherent make-up seeks,

                                            BALANCE

Our lives too must be in balance,

                  To experience joy and gratitude.

Too much of even a good thing,

                                    Is not good.

                   What makes things precious

                              Is their scarcity,

                     What is most appreciated,

Is that which is rare in occurrence,

Such as youth, beauty, gold, finding your soul-mate,

                            Free time, silence

                          and really good ideas.

God Bless the Turkeys!

Roosters are busy cock-a-doodling,

Chickens kick up their heals,

For a joyful “chicken dance,”

Pigs are rolling in the mud,

Happier than clams,

Cows are peacefully mooing in the fields,

And goats graze without a care,

Sheep count their blessings,

As they close their eyes to sleep…

It’s the turkeys who are sitting ducks now.

On this special, (fateful) “Thanksgiving Day,”

As you gather with your loved ones,

If, in your heart and mind,

Trouble is still brewing…

Turn your sights to your turkey,

The star of your feast…

And be grateful,

Oh so grateful,

This day,

Not to be!

-Gilda Patricia

“Happy Thanksgiving!”

Healed Abandonment

You didn’t drop me,

From your arms,

On purpose or,

Even by accident.

No, you placed me,

Down gently by the side of,

The road…

Then quietly walked away.

With forgiveness and gratitude,

For you, and for life,

Biggest heartache,

Turned around…

Abandonment healed.

Now tucked safely in the pocket,

Of Your healing heart,

Sweet Jesus,

Accepting love again,

With childlike abandon.

My Time

Sensitive soul,

Empath,

Never sure,

Where I stopped…

Or you began.

Endless reams of journal pages,

Conversations with God to carry me through,

Offer spiritual growth and healing.

Time now,

Connect and share,

Lovely soul sisters, brothers,

From across the globe.

Awashed by steady streams,

Of insights and inspiration…

Hearts poured forth,

On gifted pages.

Blessed time,

When stars align,

Opportune chance to write,

Blog’s love song.”

What stopped me before?

Not quite sure…

Life, survival, motherhood, fear,

fulfilling expectations?

Today, secure in God’s love,

With hope and joy,

One truth to share.

Best Friend at Twilight

Sunlight shining through the window pane,

Glittering and dancing,

Adding new life to these four walls.

Lighting up the soul with warmth and love,

But impossible to pin down.

Then the steady, stable rock beneath our feet,

No frills or thrills, only what we really need,

Secure, sure, dependable love,

That doesn’t leave,

But builds and sustains life slowly over time.

The sun with its charm and glitter and flare,

Is most adored!

But a life can’t be built on flittering rays of light.

The sun’s warmth is missed when gone,

With value and gifts so obvious to see;

Lighting up rooms and putting smiles,

On frowning faces,

Energizing and enlivening everyone around.

A rock can easily be overlooked,

For it is not glaring in our eyes,

Claiming our attention and affection.

A rock just sits beneath us.

Its gift, its value felt more with passing time.

Yep, still there.  Yep, still there.

 A rock goes nowhere fast.

Its strength and endurance uphold.

And as we age, and lose stamina and energy,

Unable to keep up, with all our youthful dancing in the sun…

The rock is there, providing a safe,

Steady place to sit and rest our weary bones.

Love’s resting place.

Gigil for Life

(LETTER TO MY YOUNGER SELF):

Had I known

That only by tomorrow

You’d be grown…

I would have went with

My first urge and instinct

To squeeze all the juice and gusto

Out of life

Before am gone.

Had I known,

I would have played

The part of bystander less

Observing less

Instead diving more

Into the deep end

Of the ocean

With reckless abandon…

Not even stopping to

Worry if my hair got wet.

Had I known,

I would have ignored

My second more acceptable

Rational impulse

To pay close and careful attention

To what other people think.

Thankfully, I’m not

10 feet under yet!
