“Rebirth”-Day

God’s spiritual world is holding its breath,

Awaiting my “rebirth”-day!

You see I’ve been spiritually minded,

For some time now,

But truth be told…I’ve still been

Wishing beyond wish and hoping,

Beyond hope that things would one day,

Somehow, someway…magically go

My Way.

But my very happiness depends now on

Me relinquishing these immature childhood,

Wishes and dreams.

Spiritual happiness means taking it all in…

Accepting all things as a gift,

Minus the labels, minus the judgments,

Minus my expectations…

Of how things should be, about what

I deserve…

When every inch of the Universe Is always

Loving me, before, during, and forever after,

My “rebirth”-day.

Why Your Ego Hates To Meditate

If you walk around speedily,

With purpose in your gait,

And a serious look upon your face,

You may even convince yourself,

Of your importance.

Does sitting still,

In a relaxed and peaceful pose,

Prove that you,

Don’t matter much,

To the world?

Only your ego asks you to,

“Do the math.”

Counting appearances,

Of much greater worth,

Than happiness or substance.

A Letter of Longing

Dear Lord,

This place with many,

Neither happy, loved or free,

Away from here,

Won’t You please take me!

I’m tired of the pain that surrounds,

Dear Lord, why must this be?

When I long for sunny faces,

Of singers crooning,

Children laughing,

Lover’s swooning,

People dancing,

Flowers blooming,

Poet’s minds wandering,

Senior citizens meandering,

Economy booming,

No need for pandering,

Starlight flickering,

Fiddlers fiddling,

No more bickering!

Days of joy,

For future generations,

This poet’s letter is
