Light the Change

The Light doesn’t fight,

Resist, run or hide from the dark,

It merely shines through it,

Providing knowledge, wisdom,

Awareness and options.

Never demanding, pushing,

Begging, manipulating

Or controlling the dark.

So where is Light’s power?

…The simplistic bravery of

Standing in the light

of awareness,

When things really get clear,

 Change happens…

Like a pot about to boil,

A bucket stuffed to overflowing,

Or a balloon filled to capacity,

Ready to burst…

Change happens when we

Can no longer bear to deny

What was once hidden in the dark…

And so we become the Light.

And that is how Light conquers darkness,

Simply being and revealing itself,

With its soft, yet persistent, (not cruel) glow,

Only feels cruel to those,

Not yet ready to come out of hiding,

To face the Light…

Not yet,

Ready,

Perched Owl

Wise old owl perched high up in your tree,

Are you half awake or half sleeping?

“Awake, O’sleeper, and arise from the dead,

And Christ will give you light.”

Are you moving towards the light,

Or falling into darkness?

If you are confused, trust God,

And trust your instincts.

Watch for the leaning branch of complacency.

Venture into the dark cave of self-discovery,

Let your conscience be your guide…

Be illuminated by the Christ light within.

Truth cannot be kept hidden,

Even from darkness.

Blind obligation, crushing pressures,

And the weight of false guilt, do not serve.

Seek soulful awareness.

Lean on the enduring Love of Christ…

Freeing, compassionate and kind.

Family United

Short Story:

Reading the book, “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Stand Together!” as a family, my husband asks, “What’s the difference between wisdom and knowledge?” Not really asking, per se, but thinking they are one and the same.

“Oh no!” I said, “Wisdom is spiritual and knowledge is technical.”

To which he said, “Oh well then, you’re the wise guy, Leonardo and I’m the smart ass, Donatello.

      “Okay, yes!” I said, laughing.

Our son then wanted to know who he was.

I said, “Oh, who do you think you are?”

He looked down at the book and quickly smiled saying, “I’m Raphael the strong one!”  He kept reading innocently, “…He has big muscles-and an even bigger attitude.”

My husband and I glanced over at each other, nodding in instant agreement, hiding our chuckles.

“Yes son,” I said, “you are very strong, and funny as well, like Michelangelo!”

A family unit,

 Of individual strengths and weaknesses,

Learning from each other,

Standing STRONG together,

And sometimes bent over from a good belly laugh.
