‘Inner Child’ Reunion

(An acrostic poem for SYNCHRONICITY):

Seeking

Yore (days of)

Now

Creates

Highway

Reaching

Over

New

Inclines

Carrying

I

To

You

God’s love, tadhana… leading me back to wholeness, synchronously, in His perfect time.

Gigil for Life

(LETTER TO MY YOUNGER SELF):

Had I known

That only by tomorrow

You’d be grown…

I would have went with

My first urge and instinct

To squeeze all the juice and gusto

Out of life

Before am gone.

Had I known,

I would have played

The part of bystander less

Observing less

Instead diving more

Into the deep end

Of the ocean

With reckless abandon…

Not even stopping to

Worry if my hair got wet.

Had I known,

I would have ignored

My second more acceptable

Rational impulse

To pay close and careful attention

To what other people think.

Thankfully, I’m not

10 feet under yet!

The Day We First Met

When I first met you,

It wasn’t the way,

You looked in my eyes,

With true sincerity of heart,

It wasn’t your charming smile,

Nor your chivalry…

The way you treated me,

Like a lady,

It wasn’t your generous spirit,

Or your down to earth,

And humble demeanor…

That drew me in.

Truly the one thing,

That got me, “hook line and sinker,”

Was the way,

You could make me laugh,

 Till my eyes peed!

And here we are now,

20 years later, still together.

No Last Farewell

Last kiss kissed

Last dream shared

Last love note sent

Last day of bliss

Last moment paired

Last trumpet played

Last tear shed

Last hope…

Dead.   Dead.   Dead.

Last broken heart

Last note of sorrow

Last line of sad song

Last day of mourn’

Love

Love

Love… Rise up again!

True love to meet once more…

Never pahimakas, never last goodbye.

Family United

Short Story:

Reading the book, “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Stand Together!” as a family, my husband asks, “What’s the difference between wisdom and knowledge?” Not really asking, per se, but thinking they are one and the same.

“Oh no!” I said, “Wisdom is spiritual and knowledge is technical.”

To which he said, “Oh well then, you’re the wise guy, Leonardo and I’m the smart ass, Donatello.

      “Okay, yes!” I said, laughing.

Our son then wanted to know who he was.

I said, “Oh, who do you think you are?”

He looked down at the book and quickly smiled saying, “I’m Raphael the strong one!”  He kept reading innocently, “…He has big muscles-and an even bigger attitude.”

My husband and I glanced over at each other, nodding in instant agreement, hiding our chuckles.

“Yes son,” I said, “you are very strong, and funny as well, like Michelangelo!”

A family unit,

 Of individual strengths and weaknesses,

Learning from each other,

Standing STRONG together,

And sometimes bent over from a good belly laugh.

Undiluted Thoughts on Paper

Clean sheet of paper

Blank, clear, crisp, new,

Beckoning irresistibly…

Joyful anticipation.

No preconceived expectation,

Or judgments,

Personal vendettas or agendas,

Blurred lines or blurred vision…

No prying eyes in sight,

To dilute or convolute,

This dalisay writing process.

Words uncensored, un-minced,

Possibly impure,

But never diluted…

Spilling forth from

 Fingertips to pen tip,

Cascading onto neutral page…

Effortless Catharsis.

Brain emptied,

Momentarily “Mind-Less.”

Clean slate, clear state,

Where clarity reigns.

Nearly pure,

 As newborn.

Mindlessness prevention.

Newer, higher, lighter thoughts brush through…

Burning away the candid, quicker, sharper,

Thought forms;

Now just marks left heavily on a page,

Soon singed in ritualistic bonfire,

All evidence of discension,

“Up in smoke.”

God forgiven.

Day’s daily distractions, problems

 Surmountable again.

Sacred Journal Practice.”

Loving Home

There are houses

Of varying shapes and sizes

Cement, wood, stone,

Metal,  bricks,

Or even straw…

Made with a carpenter’s dexterous skill,

And an architect’s most intelligent design.

Animals and insects also build amazing

Structures in which to live;

Really, a testament of God’s likha.

While houses can be made with love,

Given all the intelligence and skill

One can muster,

Love, only love, can make a house, a home…

a favorite space for resting weary heads.

Safe Harbor

The wind

Changed directions

In my life

Many times.

But only when the

Nor’easter blew in

Did I let God’s love

Change mine…

My spirit jarred and raw

From bracing against

The cold northeasterly winds

Helpless, alone…

Thereby setting sail for

His safe Inner Harbor

My heart dropping anchor

Peaceful, secure.

No longer tossed about

Willy-nilly

By the wind’s fickle currents

On life’s ever-shifting sea.
